SCHOOL ASSEMBLY PROGRAM 

 

Funkamentals performs school assemblies

as part of the Raise Your Hand Tour

that has been presented throughout the U.S. and in Mexico.

Funkamentals is a motivational,  academically-oriented

and socially-concientious musical journey.

Funkamentals can also use the assembly as a springboard

for further study and discussion of the creative process.

Funkamentals works touch on subjects such as...

Geography ... Chemistry ... Biology ... History ... 

Test taking ... Mathematics ... Grammar ... 

Economics ... World Languages, etc...

Wade Colwell-Sandoval has been a teacher and

resource specialist / curriculum designer/workshop presenter 

at the elementary, middle and high school level

in the subjects of ESL, Student Leadership, World History,

American History, Multicultural and Chicano Studies. 

Additional workshops are offered in these subject areas. 

FUNKAMENTALS CHALLENGE 

The Funkamentals Geography Challenge 

is a one-week celebration of learning 

centered around the academic themes

of World Geography, History, Culture and Language.

 .

The primary challenge is for students to learn 

as many of the 196 countries of the world 

as possible within the span of the event. 

The musical reinforcement is the hip hop song “Worldside” 

which contains each country name within its lyrics. 

Fun, creative and interactive activities are planned throughout the week 

to bring depth to the subject matter 

and then the final crescendo is the performance assembly .

. 

The overall objective is to help inspire the school-age generation 

to be conscious and caring stewards of the earth and our circle of relatives 

by expanding the concept of “community member” 

to encompass a larger sense of global citizenship.

CIRCLES

.

Based in our experiences in many communities, the circle meeting creates the best interactive and creative outcomes. It is based in the cultural traditions and wisdom of indigenous peoples universally. Therefore, whenever possible, we utilize this communal format in our gatherings.

Funkamentalz hosts creative circles that encourage the participants to share in expressive activities. This can be spoken word oriented, musically-based, theatre-based or all three. Typically, the theme of the circle is specialized to the intention or focus of the group.
